Dress Code

Bath Races Dress Code

We’re a friendly racecourse at Bath and we want all guests to have a comfortable and enjoyable time with us.

We’re not very strict in terms of dress code other than we don’t allow sports’ team shirts or offensive fancy dress.

Our events are mainly outdoors and take place April – October so the weather may not always be reliable. We recommend that race goers keep an eye on the forecast and dress accordingly. This might mean rain jackets and umbrellas or suncream and sun hats depending on what it says.

A lot of our guests do choose to dress up and make the most of a day at the races. For gentlemen we recommend a collared shirt with trousers or smart jeans or tailored shorts. Please avoid any ripped jeans or old training shoes. Ladies tend to dress up as if they were having a casual or more dressy night out with more glamorous looks.

Ladies Day and special events are the time when our guests really go to town on their looks. Plus there is a best dressed competition with amazing prizes, so it’s worth making the extra effort if you would like to do so.

The Roof Garden

This offers the best views across the whole racecourse and surrounding areas and is a smart and stylish location. Guests who have hospitality tickets for this area tend to be the most stylishly dressed up and make the most effort. We don’t have any special requirements for dress code for The Roof Garden, we simply want guests to enjoy the special occasion and feel the part.

Grandstand Tickets

This is our main enclosure which has a roof but is open to the elements. This is where you might need to dress more warmly on cooler days and definitely need to keep an eye on the weather. Gentlemen don’t need to wear collared jackets as we want guests to feel comfortable and dressed appropriately for the day. We just ask for no sports’ team shirts, offensive fancy dress, ripped jeans or old training shoes. Ladies also should bear the weather in mind but many often choose to dress more smartly for a day out.
